MEADOWBROOK MARLIN SWIM TEAM NEWS

The Meadowbrook Marlins would like to thank all of our association members for their encouragement during our 2008 Rockdale Swim League season. 76 Marlins, ages 5 to 18, practice every morning from 10 to noon. We have hosted 4 swim meets this season - our Pentathlon on 6/9, the Covington YMCA on 6/12, Irwin Place on 6/19, and Honey Creek on 6/26. In addition to these home meets, we also swam at Westchester Lakes on 6/16, Deer Run on 6/23 and at Johnson Park on 6/28 for the County Championship Meet. Swimmers who want to participate beyond the regular season are able to swim in the Georgia Parks & Recreation District Meet on 7/12 in Macon. Top finishers at District then proceed to the State Meet in Augusta on 7/25 and 7/26. Our coaches Julie Leber and Lauren Troxler are once again doing a wonderful job with our swimmers. Go Marlins!!!

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

A Neighborhood Get Together is being planned around the September time frame. The activity will be a meal provided by the Association for every one in the neighborhood. It will be held at the Clubhouse and Pool area. The goal is get to know your neighbor and welcome any new owners to the neighborhood. Information will be sent out when the plans are finalized.

The second activity is a Fishing Tournament/Fry at the Clubhouse. The tournament will be set for a week end and the fry will follow the completion of the tournament. The “Catch of the Day” will be the main course and supporting pot luck dishes, provided by hungry eaters, will be included. The Association will provide the cooking of the Catch, drinks and utensils. More information when available.

MOTHER’S DAY STORM

To the neighbors that experienced damage on Mother’s Day, the Association hopes everything has worked out and you are getting back to normal. If you are having difficulties with your insurance company, you can contact the Georgia Insurance Commission for assistance. The Commission number is: 800-656-2298.

If you have a tree that has blown down and have no need for it, some people in the neighborhood may be interested in the wood for the winter fireplaces. Contact the Association at the Clubhouse number, 770- 929-7946 and leave a number. A flyer can be posted on the web site with your information.

NEIGHBOR WEB NEWS

We have our official web site for Association information and Clubhouse Rentals, www.meadowbrookhomeowners.com. We now also have a neighborhood web site provided by Jane Johnson for Meadowbrook. This is a neighborhood site where a number of activities and services can be posted. A calendar of upcoming events and photos of past activities is also included. The URL is www.meadowbrooknews.net. If you have any items you would like to post on the site, contact Jane Johnson at janejohnson@remax.net.

BOARD AND OFFICER OPENINGS

There are only six months left of 2008. When January 2009 arrives, the Association Officers need to be in place. There will be openings for President and Treasurer after 2008 ends. Now is the time to get involved to fill the Board/Officer positions. If there is no interest in the position, the Association will hire an outside firm to provide. This means additional cost and additional dues requirements. You, the Members, decide the direction taken.

CLUBHOUSE RENTAL MANAGER

Ronda Kustick is resigning as the Clubhouse Manager as of August 2008. If you are interested in the position, contact Rick.
